To me, being a web designer has become a passion over the last six years. Just like anything else, there is always something more to learn. I challenge myself to learn something new every day. When I design, I am always thinking of ways to solve visual problems, and also ways to make the website visually attractive and competitive according to standards.
I always build attractive website interfaces thinking of the user as a potential costumer, which is my idea of web designing.
I enjoy music, especially country and smooth jazz, photography, and also cooking good food, but there is not enough time for that at the moment.
Whenever I have some free time, I like to go outside, whether it's sunny or rainy. Even though people are around all the time, when you are in front of a beautiful Apple computer for about 10 hours or more every day, one learns to appreciate being able to breathe and how nice the weather is outside. I also enjoy the company of my two kids, Natty and Junior, and my incredible wife, Maria, who certainly make life more interesting with every step they take.
The website is built hopefully with valid xhtml 1.0 with the layout done in CSS code and some JavaScript applications. The site is coded and maintained on an Apple Mac intel core duo machine, using tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Freehand for the graphics, and text editors such as barebones, BB edit, and the final step over Adobe Dreamweaver CS4. The site is served under yahoo services and supported by Wuffo to get the job done.
You can see the contents of this site work well in Explorer 6, 7and 8; Firefox; Safari; Chrome; and Opera. However, certain layout elements and details will not work perfectly in every browser that exists (specially when I add to my programing some new CSS3 elements). Obviously, the web designers using a superior browser will be rewarded with visual details, but for the old schoolers, sorry. Maybe it's time to start thinking differently and move on. So much personal effort is put into such a small quantity of users.
For the best experience, I recommend using Safari 3.2 or superior (on Mac or Windows), Explorer 8 or superior (on Windows), Firefox 3.0 or superior (on Mac or Windows), Opera 9.6. or superior (on Mac or Window), or Google Chrome 3 (on Windows).
This site is an experimental site created for the purpose of connecting and sharing information works and ideas with other web designers or people who enjoy the web designing field; not only for the English speakers, but also for the Spanish speakers. I believe web designers need to learn from others, and we need to share for others.
I use this site as a way to experiment with new techniques in programming and designing, and share in Spanish some interesting articles for people don't know how to speak English. I also use the site to share my thoughts about many things around the web designing world.
For the experts and novices who are looking deeper, this site is evolving, not finished, since there are so many things that I want to try and do sometime during this year. Anyways, my point is that in this business, you are never done learning.
Another thing is about the translation service: It's hard to find the right translation from English to Spanish and vice versa because I'm not a professional translator and also the language is alive, and it changes all the time and you can see the structure is the same over time but the way some people use the language changes from place to place. For example, Spanish is not the same in Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, or Spain. For English, here in the United States we use different types of English according to the geographical zones; for example, we have "Southern English" for states like Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Georgia; in Miami "Spanglish" is spoken and in California and Arizona "Chicanoenglish" is spoken; in the northern states "Bostonian English" is spoken. I'm saying this so you don't expect perfection! We are only trying to give you folks a tool to undertand the articles that we are talking about, for the people who don't speak English.
By the way, English is my second language, therefore exquisite readers that expect perfecion or look for errors in everything, I only have three words for you: I am sorry. I'm human after all.
In the end, every technical content you find in walkingdesign.com is referred only to the labor of the web designer.
